Time: 12-4pm
Learn how to make your own rings using the method of wax carving, taught by Margaret Alba (she/her). In this class you will learn about the art of wax carving and how it relates to jewelry making, wax carving basics, and safety procedures. You will and carve and make 1-2 rings, that will later be cast in metal in your choice of either bronze or sterling silver. Rings will be ready to pick up a few weeks after class.
The price of this class includes a 1.2 gram weight per student in grams of metal. Due to the huge increase of metal costs, if you make pieces that are over that weight, or want to make more pieces, you will pay Margaret for the extra weight. (She will go over this with you during class and you’ll be able to weigh your pieces periodically so you’ll know how to stay within the desired weight range if you’d like)
This class uses sharp tools, as well as open flames and very hot heat pens. Participants must be 18+
