Common Questions for our Pottery Classes

  • Classes are typically 3 hours long, from 6-9pm. To know exactly when your classes are, please fill out the form and pick the workshop dates you’d like to join.

  • If you decide to take the 6-week Cermamics classes you’ll be learning the following in every class:

    • Week 1: Learning to wedge, intro to throwing, demo of basic cylinders and bowls

    • Week 2: Trimming, handles, overview of the stages of clay, throwing practice

    • Week 3: More in depth throwing and shaping techniques, exploring larger pieces

    • Week 4: Throwing practice, working on form, trimming + handle refresher

    • Week 5: Intro to underglazes, choice between throwing more or beginning to decorate

    • Week 6: Painting all our pieces!!:

    If you decide to take the 3 week class, we’ll adjust what’s covered to the following:

    • Week 1 - Hand building. Learning how to create anything you’d like using slabs, coils, and pinch pots. You’ll get to make and keep up to 2 items.

    • Week 2 - Wheel throwing. Learning how to throw on the wheel. You’ll be able to keep your favorite 2 pieces.

    • Week 3 - Under-glazing/decorating. We will spend this class decorating and painting the items that we made in the previous two weeks.

  • Your pieces will be fired, glazed, and fired again by our studio staff at the end of your class session.

    Your pieces will be finished and ready to pick up approximately 6 weeks after your classes are over.

  • We’re very conveniently located in Northeast Portland, making it super easy to head on over after work.

  • Nope! All materials are provided.

    If you are in the 6 week class, we’ll provide a 25lb bag. If you need to purchase additional clay after that, you can purchase that at the studio or at Georgie’s (with studio clay type recommendations in mind)

  • Our small class size of 8 students will provide lots of one on one assistance and support to help you learn

  • Due to the sequential nature of the class, there will be no make up classes for missed days.

    If you can’t make it to the class altogether, refunds are available with a $25 processing fee when made at least 3 weeks before the class starts.
